- First off, I said...
-
- : Err, well if you are VERY lucky yes, but that line is missing on almost all
- : UK C64's from about 1983 onwards (and even some of the 1982 ones!)
-
- Russel Reed (rreed@cei.net) added:
-
- : Actually, I have had luck with this. As far as I'm aware, it works with 64's
- : other than the 64C. The 64 I've done it on is a "newer" 64, where clearing the
- : screen changes the foreground character colors to be the current character color,
- : rather than the VIC background color.
-
- At the last count I have about 8 or 9 old style C64's and only the 1982 issue
- resets on this line. There WERE some hybrids that C= put out using the old
- 1982 board even till about '84 but they were rare! You really were lucky!
-
- : Grounding pin 2 by connecting it to pin 6 does the trick. I plugged an extra
- : cable into the drive, and used a screwdriver, but a switch is probably a better
- : idea.
-
- Well, if it works, cool but as I say its pretty rare (and yes a switch is
- probably gonna be better =-) and its better (but not safer to reset thru the
- parallel port, either by reset switch (RSD still have stock in the UK, I
- think... I got a load from them (for other purposes) at about 5 each if
- memory serves...) or by getting a circuit diagram and a soldering iron and
- wiring two wires into the reset line on the same port on the PCB and then
- running to a switch from there. The latters the best bet I'd say...
